And just like that, another month is over and it’s time for the monthly round up! If you’re new, the monthly round up is where I share what I’ve been doing, reading and watching lately. The summer is going by way too fast, and I don’t even want to think about the dreaded three letter word yet (uni).
July has been a funny month, it feels like I’ve been incredibly busy and done absolutely nothing at the same time.
What I’ve been reading…
Why Do I Have Anxiety? By Charlotte Ann. Charlotte’s post really resonated with me. I often question why I live with mental illness, and Charlotte discussed all those potential causes and queries. However, she also concluded with a very important point. At the end of the day, it is down to a chemical imbalance. I think the sooner we acknowledge that, the easier it is to accept.
If Only by Melanie Murphy. I bought this with my birthday money, and ya know what? I’m glad I did. If I’m honest, I’m always a bit sceptical about books written by youtubers. However, Melanie’s writing really flew off the page and she made it so easy to fall in love with every single character. Even the mundane moments of life were made interesting by the characters that Melanie created – if that’s not the sign of a good book, I don’t know what is.
The Real Bodies of Instagram – The Rose Glow. Alice has started a new series on her blog entitled The Real Bodies of Instagram, discussing the slow move away from filtered fake images. To my surprise, she asked me to be part of it after I posted a picture of my stretch marks! I’m not sure that I’m the best interviewee, but I was so excited to be part of this series and I can’t wait to see who Alice interviews next.

What I’ve been watching…
Lizzo’s Tiny Desk Session. I didn’t know it was possible, but watching this made me fall in love with Lizzo even more. What an angel
A lotta midsize content on Youtube. Specifically, Sierra Schultzzie and Carrie Dayton are my current favourites. I love seeing how they shop as humans who are somewhere in between straight and plus size. I specifically love Carrie’s thrifting content – it’s nice to see a big fashion influencer acknowledging the negative impact that fast fashion has.
Queer Eye Season 4. We limited ourselves to one episode per day, but despite that we still finished the season way too quickly for my liking!

What I’ve been listening to…
Doing It Podcast by Hannah Witton // I’ve always loved the content that Hannah creates, and her new podcast is no different. I love the way she approaches topics that often aren’t spoken about. It’s impossible to listen to an episode without learning a thing or two!
Tiny Changes // to celebrate the 10th anniversary of The Midnight Organ Fight, FR asked some of their favourite artists to cover songs from the album. In all honesty, before listening I wasn’t sure how to feel about the album. I knew that no one could really live up to Scott’s incredible voice and I still stand by that, but Tiny Changes really is great. It’s so interesting to hear different interpretations of the familiar songs I love so much.
A lot of Daughter // Daughter will always be my favourite band, and I’ve had their two albums on loop a lot lately. It’s impossible for me to get tired of them.

What I’ve been up to…
Weekly pancake dates. My friend and I have a wonderful new tradition where we go for pancakes every single week… It’s kinda the best thing ever! Not only do I get to eat delicious pancakes, I also get to have a good catch up that always brightens my week.
Bloggers Who Brunch at Ocho. Gemma organised another wonderful brunch, and this time it was at Ocho at Spiers Wharf. It was my first time visiting, but I really enjoyed it. You get to create your own brunch which means you get to eat exactly what you want!
Japanese Street Food at Mikaku. Mikaku are the new restaurant in town serving up Izayaka which is essentially the Japanese version of tapas! I love this style of dining, as it allows you to order lots of little dishes and try more than you normally would!
Cats and coworking. As I mentioned in my last post, I had a wee coworking date with Charlotte and Lis. We spent an hour with all of the adorable kittens at the Purrple Cat Cafe, eating cake and drinking coffee. After that we slightly begrudgingly headed on to another cafe to actually do some work.

I’ve also just realised that everything on this list has included food, and I’m very amused. We clearly know what I’m passionate about.
What have you been doing/reading/watching over the last month? Let me know! I’m in desperate need of new TV shows to watch, so if you could send some recommendations my way that would be GREAT.
