Small Happy Moments #4

small happy moments

When I’m struggling with my mental health, I really value the small happy moments, hence why I started this series. Here are a few of my recent ones…

Caring Less & Dressing For The Weather
It’s no secret that I don’t like the way my arms or legs look, but recently I’ve been caring less and it feels so nice. Glasgow has been particularly hot, and choosing to wear floaty dresses has let me feel a little bit cooler in the heat. Not loving the chub rub though – feel free to send any suggestion my way…

Caorunn And Tonic
I’ve fallen back in love with Caorunn after drinking it a few weeks ago when catching up with my friend Eilidh. It’s so refreshing to drink and is perfect for a warm summer day.

Looking After Bella
If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve probably noticed a doggo has been featuring on my stories a lot. I’m so desperate to get a dog, and whenever I have the opportunity to take care of a dog it just reinforces that. Bella is a lovely 10 year old lady and she’s been a pleasure to have around.

I’ve been using Pinterest loads recently. There is something very satisfying about scrolling through all the dreamy interiors and yummy food. I just wish I had the budget to buy all the amazing furniture I see!

My Birthday
June is my birthday month, and I had such a nice birthday. It definitely didn’t go to plan – the weather was rubbish and the ferry was cancelled, so we couldn’t go to Arran for our weekend away. However, we made the most of what we had and spent the weekend in Glasgow. We went swimming, we relaxed and we had lots drinks. We also went to Cafe Andaluz where I ordered a huge jug of sangria and a ridiculous amount of tapas – so good.

What are some of your recent small happy moments? Let me know in the comments.

  • Such a great idea to document some of the little moments. I can imagine they’re really nice to look back on

I’m sorry your birthday plans went awry, I’m glad you still celebrated in style! I’ve heard that lush silky underwear primer is good for chub rub, and there’s a silicone gel called Monistat that people swear by!

    • rbekhaj says:

Thank you Lyd! I actually picked up some Lush silky underwear today after hearing lots of good things about it. I’ve never heard of Monistat though, will definitely have a little google.

  • Lewis says:

My small happy moment was watching you after that jug of sangria

  • Jenny says:

I wear a lot of skirts to work. With Texas summer here, I’ve gotten into the habit of rubbing a bit of antiperspirant in the spot that my legs rub together. I think it helps with the rub and sweat.

  • June is also my birthday month! My bf treated me to the lion king musical and it as amazing! small moments all together do make life amazing!

    • rbekhaj says:

I hope you had a great birthday! I would love to see the musical version of The Lion King – I love the movie so it would be interesting to see how it compares.

  • Louisa says:

Noticing and finding small moments of happiness is so important.
I think a moment from this week for me was receiving a book in my blogger mail. I love reading and having it turn up really made me happy.

I totally agree your points on dressing for the weather. I’ve recently bought some cute lace thigh bands to combat the chub rub, which I really like when I’m wearing longer dresses or skirts, but I worry about them slipping when I wear shorter clothes. I just got them from ebay and they weren’t very expensive!

  • Nancy says:

It’s always nice to reflect on the little things! Sometimes we need to let go of some of our insecurities for comfort. I had the same issue with my legs having a bunch of bites and it wasn’t worth wearing long pants when it was HOT! Oh hey! We share the same birthday month! Glad you enjoyed your time! 🙂

  • These are fab ideas! I hate chub rub, and I will never not wear a pair of tight black cycling shorts under skirts and dresses, they work and treat! My favourite small happy things at the moment are listening to Morning Train every morning, and prioritising skincare because the ritual makes me feel so good.
