Our Little Bear

After arriving home at 3am after a long flight, what do you want to do? Well, most people would go to bed. That wasn’t the case for us. We decided the most sensible thing to do was get a cat. Yes… We came home, waited for PetsAtHome to open and bought just about every kitten related item we could find.

Lewis’ aunt recently had a litter of kittens. More specifically, her cat had a litter (I would be very impressed if his aunt had the litter herself). We went to visit the kittens about 6 weeks ago. There was 5 (maybe 6?) kittens in total. They were all SO tiny and cute. However, there was one in particular that we fell in love with. The little guy spent most of the time cuddled up on my lap sleeping, but when he was awake he was playful and cheeky. In the weeks that followed, we couldn’t stop thinking about him.

I’m a big animal lover. Funnily enough, I never really pictured myself having a cat though. I grew up having two dogs, and I plan on owning many more in the future. However, our flat doesn’t have a garden and I’d much rather wait until we live in a house with a garden to have a dog. After meeting the kittens for the first time, we decided that a cat would be perfect for us.

After our little (big) shop for kitten supplies and very little sleep, we went to see the kittens. There was only two left, including the one we fell in love with. Lewis spent a fair amount of time trying to convince me that we should take them both. I was very tempted, but in the end we happily headed home with one kitten.

For the first day or two, he was quite scared and unsure of his new surroundings, but it wasn’t long before he started running around and causing mischief. His current favourite thing to do is sprint underneath the couch where he knows we can’t reach him after he gets in trouble for trying to bite cables (his second favourite thing to do). He is such a cheeky monkey at times, but he also loves to cuddle up next to me on the couch. We’ve only had him for two weeks now, but he really does feel part of our little family and I’m so glad we got him.

Here is our little Bear…
