Escaping the City

Loch Lomond

I love Glasgow, don’t get me wrong, but sometimes it’s nice to escape the city. I spend most of my week on public transport and in the busy West End attempting to get a law degree (it’s not fun). At the weekend, if at all possible, I love to get out of Glasgow and explore somewhere new.

It’s nice to get out of my flat and away from my laptop, even if it’s just for a few hours. I spend most of my life on my phone, but there’s something oddly satisfying about being in the middle of nowhere with no signal. It’s refreshing!

Living in Scotland, I feel really lucky to have so many amazing sights right on my doorstep. I’m constantly bookmarking places I’d love to go, and the list is never-ending. Last week, Lewis and I took a little trip up to Loch Lomond, one of my favourite places to visit. It’s only a short journey out of the city, but it definitely has no resemblance to the hustle and bustle of Glasgow city centre.

We decided to drive up the west side of the loch, right up to the very top. We normally drive along the east route, so we had no idea what was ahead of us! It definitely didn’t disappoint. There’s lots of little places to stop along the way, and there’s plenty of picture opportunities.¬†Surprisingly, the Scottish weather decided to behave, and we were able to spend the day exploring in the sun.

Spending a day at Loch Lomond was just what I needed. I’m pretty sure it’s impossible to not feel relaxed after seeing such an amazing view! It was nice to escape the city and take a break from my phone even if it was just for the day. If you have the chance this weekend, you should definitely try to go on a little adventure too! I know it won’t be long before I’m planning my next escape.

Have you ever been to Loch Lomond? If you haven’t, would you like to visit?¬†
